Description	:	William (Bill) Byerly Allen, Sr, peacefully went to meet the Lord on April 25, 2022 at his home in Florida surrounded by his family. Bill took pride in the 45 years he worked at Newport News Shipbuilding (Huntington Ingalls). Bill's first job at the shipyard consisted of caulking the wooden decks of the Naval aircraft carriers. Bill loved Nascar and everyone knew Richard Petty was his favorite driver. Bill and Barbara were even married on Petty's birthday. Read More	William (Bill) Byerly Allen, Sr, peacefully went to meet the Lord on April 25, 2022 at his home in Florida surrounded by his family. Bill took pride in the 45 years he worked at Newport News Shipbuilding (Huntington Ingalls). Bill's first job at the shipyard consisted of caulking the wooden decks of the Naval aircraft carriers. Bill loved Nascar and everyone knew Richard Petty was his favorite driver. Bill and Barbara were even married on Petty's birthday. Those who knew Bill also knew he loved to piddle and never sat still. Bill also loved to fish and was an avid camper. Bill and Barbara traveled the United States over the years, visiting 49 states including Alaska. The one state they missed was Hawaii. Bill was a family man and loved visiting his family and friends while on their travels. Bill was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Golden D. Allen and Mamie L. Allen, his brothers Golden Dewey Allen, Jr., Jim Allen and Jack Allen and grandson Joey Manas. Bill is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara S. Allen, his sister Vivian Canada, brothers John Allen (Nancy) and Joe Allen (Ruth), daughter Linda Allen and granddaughters Stephanie McMillan (John) and Melissa (Missy) Bell (Donna), son William B. Allen, Jr. (Cindy), daughter Sharon Manas and grandson Jason Manas, daughter Carol Allen (Tina), granddaughter Kimberly Zavala (Marcos) and grandson Michael Stephens (Amy), daughter Andrea Kay Hedspeth (Frankie) and granddaughter Maria Hedspeth, and daughter Brenda A. Williford (Allen) and granddaughter Heather Smith (Brian) and grandson Matthew Williford, stepchildren Belinda White (John), granddaughter Caitlyn Yesmer (Anthony), grandson Christopher White and Ronald D. Turnage (Ella). Bill had 14 great grandchildren, one great great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park,at a future date.
