He was born March 30, 1932 in Saint Marys on the farm where he lived most of his life, the son of Matt and Ida (Stukenborg) Dorsten. He is survived by three children: Mark (Teresa) Dorsten of Saint Marys; Amy (Dennis) Braun of Weekiwachee, Florida; Kim (Tom) Dymond of Crystal River, Florida. He is survived by three grandchildren: Robert Dorsten; Tony Pellican and Kera Dorsten; by a sister, Vera Dingledine of Saint Marys. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rene M. Dorsten; by his siblings: Mildred Holtman, Leroy Dorsten, Paul “Pete” Dorsten; Virgilene Rich and Tony Dorsten. Bill was a 1950 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. He served in the US Army and was a lifelong farmer, still working until shortly before his death. He was a member of American Legion Post 323 and Eagles Lodge 767 in Saint Marys. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, and the Knights of Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 1, 2014 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Barry Stechschulte, celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
