Description	:	William C "Billy" Madison was born on 16 Oct 1830 in Lewistown, Fulton County, Illinois, as the sixth child of Reuben Conway Madison and Winna Cotts. He had five siblings, namely: Eugenia Evelyn Madison, Elizabeth A "Eliza" Madison, Mary C Madison, Francis Conway Madison, and James A Madison. The grandnephew of President James Madison, it’s unclear why William didn’t share in the inheritance from the president. The grandnephew of President James Madison, it’s unclear why William didn’t share in the inheritance from the president. In 1843, along with other family members (Francis C Madison; Isaac and Eugenia Madison Preston and family; Harold and Harriett Madison Bemus and family), William migrated to Ead's Grove, Delaware County, Iowa and then on to Lodomillo, Clayton County, Iowa, the following April, 1844. In 1850, he's living with Harriett Madison Bemus & family in Boardman Township, Clayton County, Iowa. In 1856, he's with his sister, Eugenia, and her family in Lodomillo, Clayton County, Iowa. When he was 27, he married 1) Sarah Marie Robinson on 01 May 1858 in Clayton County, Iowa. They’re found living in Honey Creek, Delaware County, Iowa, in 1860, 1870. Sarah Robinson Madison died on 02 Sep 1875 and was interred at the Edgewood Cemetery. When William was 48, he married 2) Sarah E. Scofield on 06 Jun 1879 in Delaware County, Iowa. They lived in Honey Creek, Delaware County, Iowa in 1880 and 1882, where he declares himself a ‘retired farmer’. They’re listed in Jefferson Township, Clayton County, Iowa in 1885 and in Lodomillo, Clayton County, Iowa in 1895 and 1900. In 1905 they are in Edgewood, Clayton County, Iowa. After an extended battle with a wasting disease, he died on 12 Jan 1909 in Edgewood, Delaware County, Iowa at age 78. He was buried in Edgewood Cemetery, Edgewood, Delaware County, Iowa, USA.
