B ~ 65 ENGR CBT BN ------------------------ William Clark Fitchner, son of Worth and Mabel (Sterrett) Fitchner, was born March 23, 1931, near Anthon, Iowa. He lived with his parents until joining the Army during the Korean Conflict. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. B ~ 65 ENGR CBT BN ------------------------ William Clark Fitchner, son of Worth and Mabel (Sterrett) Fitchner, was born March 23, 1931, near Anthon, Iowa. He lived with his parents until joining the Army during the Korean Conflict. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned to Anthon where he farmed for two years. He then lived at Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for a number of years, returning to Anthon in 1959. Bill married Myrtle Wilka February 6, 1954, at Colorado Springs, Colorado. They were the parents of five children. Myrtle preceded him February 29, 1960. After his wife's death, he returned to South Dakota for the remainder of his life. William lost his life in a traffice accident near Wolsey, South Dakota, on Saturday November 12, 1966. at the age of 35. Funeral services were held November 15th in the Anthon Methodist Church, Anthon, Iowa, with Rev. John A. Wallace officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery under direction of Walter Funeral Home, Anthon, Iowa. Pallbearers included Kenneth Hill, Gail Sterrett, Walter Sterrett, Fred Thompson, Walter Thompson, and Leslie Green. Military rites were conducted at the graveside by McNiff Post 389 of Anthon. Survivors include his father, Worth Fitchner of Anthon, four daughters, Pam, Penny and Paula Fitchner all of Anthon and Patsy of Sloan, one son, William of Moville, two brothers, Wayne of Moville and Ronald of Anthon, one sister, Mrs. Arthur (Mary) Drossel of Sloan. He was preceded in death by his wife and his mother. His wife: Myrtle Laura Wilka Fitchner.
