William (Bill) was born Feb. 15, 1934, in Bristow, Iowa, to Archie and Violet (Hencken) McNeilus. On Aug. 1, 1953, he was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Finke. McNeilus, 81, of Oklahoma City died Thursday, Oct. 22 2015, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. William (Bill) was born Feb. 15, 1934, in Bristow, Iowa, to Archie and Violet (Hencken) McNeilus. On Aug. 1, 1953, he was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Finke. They resided many years in La Crescent, Minn., where they raised their family. Bill worked in the service department for Trane Company in La Crosse until 1981, when he relocated to Oklahoma City. He continued to work for Trane until his retirement in 1992. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and received the Commendation Ribbon with Metal Pendant for Meritorious Service for his service in Korea from Dec. 1953 to July 1954. Bill was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in Jan. 1955. He served eight years in the Army Reserve. Bill was a lifetime member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association and was an avid trap-shooter. He began shooting in 1972, and since then had registered 483,450 ATA targets in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Utah, Wyoming, New York, Ohio, Illinois, Louisiana, Arizona, Texas and Oklahoma. He was inducted in the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2008, and had been on the Oklahoma State Trapshooting team several times. In his retirement, he loved driving their motor home to various shoots around the country. Bill is survived by his children, Patricia (Ron) Moilien, Michael McNeilus and Michelle (Robert) Franzblau; six grandsons, Bill (Katie), Brian (Abbie) and Eric Moilien, Chris (Jennifer) McNeilus and Michael and Ben Franzblau; and eight great-granddaughters, Emma, Madelyn, Violet, Eva and Willa Moilien, Carlie, MaKayla and Erika McNeilus. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Dorothy, in 2012. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Bristow.
