Muir Is Victim Of Paralysis Mr. William C. Muir, who for a number of years has been one of Crisfield's leading business men, died at the McCready Memorial Hospital, Monday morning. Mr. Muir, who was 52 years old, was stricken with paralysis three weeks ago and gradually grew worse until the end came. The deceased was born in Fairmount this county and was the son of the late William E. Muir of that place. In 1890 he came to Crisfield and accepted a position as book-keeper for Long & Coulbourne, large lumber dealers, and when that firm was combined with the A. B. Cochrane Co., was retained in the capacity of general manager. Some years later he organized and was president and general manager of the Wm. C. Muir Lumber Co., which position he held until about four years ago when he sold out his holdings in that company and engaged in the lumber brokerage business, representing one of the largest mills in the south. Mr. Muir was twice married his first wife being Miss Emma Sterling of Lawsonia, who died in 1915. In 1918 he married Mrs. Pearl Wrightson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob B. Cullen, this city. Billy Muir, as he was familiarly known, was a solid substantial business man and had many friends not only in Crisfield but throughout the entire Eastern Shore. When quite young he embraced the Methodist faith and had been a consistent christian and a member of Immanuel M. E. Church for a number of years. His death is a source of deep regret to the entire community and we join his many friends in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved family. The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Pearl Muir, three daughters, Mrs. Fletcher Sterling, Mrs. Harold Poleyette and Miss Gladys Muir and one son, Mr. Edward Muir; all of this city. He is also survived by three brothers, Mr. Oscar Muir, of Bellehaven, N. C.; Mr. Howard Muir, of Philadelphia, Pa.; and Mr. Russel Muir, of Norfolk, Va., and one sister, Mrs. Leslie Eley, of Norfolk, Va. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. John J. Bunting, were held at the late home, Wednesday afternoon. Interment was made in the Asbury cemetery. The Crisfield Times, Crisfield, Maryland, June 5, 1926, pp. 1 and 5
