Description	:	WETMORE --- William C. Porter, 88, Prairie Village, formerly of the Wetmore and Sabetha area, died Friday, July 11, 2003, at his home. He was born May 5, 1915, in Wetmore, the son of William David and Ada Elizabeth Sourk Porter. He attended Wetmore schools and was a graduate of Wetmore High School. Porter, 88, Prairie Village, formerly of the Wetmore and Sabetha area, died Friday, July 11, 2003, at his home. He was born May 5, 1915, in Wetmore, the son of William David and Ada Elizabeth Sourk Porter. He attended Wetmore schools and was a graduate of Wetmore High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Porter moved from Sabetha to Prairie Village 35 years ago. He worked at Hughes Clothing Co. in Sabetha and later for New York Life. He worked as a purchasing agent for the Government Services Administration in Kansas City for many years. He was a member of the Wetmore United Methodist Church in Wetmore and the American Legion posts at Wetmore and Sabetha. He was married to Doris L. Kirby on Jan. 15, 1943, in Kansas City, Kan. She preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, William D. Porter, Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Donna Jean Porter, Lee's Summit, Mo.; a sister, Betty Bartley, Springfield, Mo.; and two granddaughters. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Wetmore United Methodist Church in Wetmore. Burial will be in Wetmore Cemetery.
