Danville Register & Bee William ‘Billy' Merricks CALLANDS, Va. — William Calvin "Billy" Merricks age 67 of 16224 Franklin Trnpk. Callands, Virginia died December 12, 2001 at the Danville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Merricks was born September 24, 1934 in Pittsylvania County. He was the son of the late Claude Washington Merricks and Sally Austin Merricks. He is survived by his wife Barbara Allen Merricks of the residence. He is also survived by one daughter, Annette M. Giles and her husband Allen Giles of Callands; one sister, Mamie M. Adkins of Danville; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Samantha Giles of Callands. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and he owned and operated Merricks' Store for 25 years before his retirement. Funeral services will be conducted Friday December 14, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. from the Liberty Baptist Church by Rev. Daryl Joyce and Rev. Randy Williams. Interment will be in the Merricks Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday December 13, 2001 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence 16224 Franklin Trnpk. Callands, Va. Scott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
