Lynn Gunderson officiating and Rev. Keith Scott assisting. William passed away on Thursday, July 26 at his home in Coon Rapids following a courageous battle with cancer. WILLIAM D. BOWMAN Bill was born August 16, 1930 to Clarence and Versa (Miller) Bowman at home in Coon Rapids. He attended Coon Rapids schools and graduated with the Class of 1947 He was confirmed and a lifelong member of the Coon Rapids United Methodist Church. Bill was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War serving from 1952-1956. He was a member of the American Legion Post 357. Following his discharge from the Air Force, Bill farmed 25 years with his brother-in-law Bill Bote and another 26 years with his son, Reid. On June 24, 1956, he was united in marriage to Elaine Johnson at Grace Methodist Church in Paullina. They made their home in Coon Rapids. Two children were born to this union. He enjoyed many card games with family and friends. While his health permitted, he was an outdoor enthusiast including fishing, hunting, camping and target shooting. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law Hjalmer and Elsie Johnson, his sister and brother-in-law Clarene and Bill Bote, brothers-in-law Don Streeter and Verlin Gellhaus, and his sister-in-law and her husband, Marilyn and Bob Peck. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elaine, son Reid, daughter Bev and her husband Al Domath of Urbandale; grandsons Corey and Kyle Domath, sisters-in-law June Gellhaus of Sutherland, Leah Streeter of Spirit Lake; Evelyn and her husband Rev. Keith Scott of Clear Lake; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
