Hall, son of William and Mary Hall of Sidney, Shelby Co., Ohio, was born July 25, 1831. He was one of a family of seven children all of whom are now dead. Hall Dies At Home in This City At Advanced Age of Eighty-four. William D. Hall, son of William and Mary Hall of Sidney, Shelby Co., Ohio, was born July 25, 1831. He was one of a family of seven children all of whom are now dead. He came to Iowa in 1855, where he worked at his trade as cooper and mason until the opening of the Civil War, when he enlisted in Company I 46th Volunteer Infantry. He continued in the service until he was mustered out at the close of the struggle in May, 1865. He was with William P. Wolf when wounded and taken prisoner, and was held as such at Calabie, Alabama, until his release at the close of the war, when he returned to Iowa, locating at Tipton, where he resumed his former occupation. Mr. Hall was married to Lucy Goodale, July 25, 1861. To this union five children were born, all of whom died in infancy. Mrs. Hall died Aug. 17, 1890. April 26, 1894 he was married to Mrs. M. J. Fleagle of Lowden, Iowa. The have lived in the present home in Tipton ever since. Mr. Hall was converted at fifteen years of age and joined the Methodist Episcopal church at Sidney, Ohio, and continued a true Christian during his life. His membership was in the Methodist church at Tipton to the time of his decease. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. for over 48 years, and at one time belonged to Beaver Post, G. A. R. of this city. Mr. Hall was a man who had no enemies, one who was respected and loved by all, who knew him. He passed from this life Monday Dec. 27, 1915. He is survived by his wife and seven step-children, Mrs. Kinch and Harry Fleagle of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Hall of Muscatine; Mrs. Donaldson of Maywood, Illinois; Mrs. Henderson of Quincy, Illinois; Harvey Fleagle of Angeles, California; J.Harvey Fleagle this city.
