Description	:	William D. Sayers, Sr., 69, of West College Corner died Saturday, September 13, 2008 at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, Oxford. He was born November 20, 1938 in Bath, IN to Donald Charles and Pearl A. Widaw Sayers. He attended College Corner High School and in 1956 joined the U.S. Marine Corps for three years. He had been employed at Titus Construction in Dayton for several years and employed building farm fences for over 40 years. William had also been Town Marshall in College Corner for 12 years. Sayers, Sr., 69, of West College Corner died Saturday, September 13, 2008 at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, Oxford. He was born November 20, 1938 in Bath, IN to Donald Charles and Pearl A. Widaw Sayers. He attended College Corner High School and in 1956 joined the U.S. Marine Corps for three years. He had been employed at Titus Construction in Dayton for several years and employed building farm fences for over 40 years. William had also been Town Marshall in College Corner for 12 years. Survivors include seven sons: William Dale Sayers, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Liberty; Donald C. Sayers of Richmond;Matthew Sayers and Nathan Sayers of College Corner, Dorian Scott Lackey,Benjamin Lee Holt and James Robert Holt; three daughters: Teresa Sayers of South Carolina; Alicia Sayers of College Corner, and Vivian Marie Holt of Lewisburg, OH; three brothers: Donald Sayers of Michigan, Tom Sayers and his wife Bonnie of Florida and Larry Sayers of Florida; three sisters: Barbara of Cottage Grove, Judy and her husband Lloyd of Germantown, OH and Shirley and her husband Ron of Connersville; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Public graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 2 pm at College Corner Cemetery with Rev. David Rockhill of Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #122 and VFW Post #1472. Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, College Corner is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital and sent to Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, PO Box 146 West College Corner, IN 47003.
