Description	:	Bill was born June 5, 1919, at Newton Grove, Mont., a post office 25 miles northwest of Custer, Mont. His parents were Albert Collins and Lillian Bailey; he was number five of ten children. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Helen, Ruth, Edith, Thora, Alice; and his brothers Earl, Benjamin, and Walter. Read More	Bill was born June 5, 1919, at Newton Grove, Mont., a post office 25 miles northwest of Custer, Mont. His parents were Albert Collins and Lillian Bailey; he was number five of ten children. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Helen, Ruth, Edith, Thora, Alice; and his brothers Earl, Benjamin, and Walter. Bill and his siblings attended their eight elementary grades, having to walk one mile to the one room Hills View school. He graduated from Custer High school in June 1937 and attended one semester at Bozeman College. During the early years the entire family worked on the Collins homestead farm and ranch in northern Yellowstone County. In July of 1939, Bill met Maybelle White in Billings and they were married in Red Lodge in September of that year. Bill had many different jobs during his working years and of mention are three that he enjoyed the most. The first was the six years that he leased and managed the Collins farm and ranch operation. The second was the sixteen years that he sold cars and trucks for Archie Cochrane Ford. The third was from 1982-1996 when Bill and Maybelle started traveling primarily in the western United States visiting friends and family during which time he was self- employed, purchasing trucks in the states of Texas, North Dakota, Kansas, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. He would then take the trucks to Billings and convert them for ranch and farm use whereupon he would sell them to farmers and ranchers in Montana and Wyoming. In addition to the above, during World War II, Bill worked as a warehouse superintendent at Hill Field Airbase in Ogden, Utah and during the 1950's operated a dry-land farm in the Colby, Kan., area. Bill is survived by Maybelle, his wife of 73 years; his eldest son Noel and his wife Elaine of Sunland, Calif.; son Boyd and his wife Karen of Peachtree City, Ga.; and daughter Rachelle of New York City, N. Y. Also surviving are four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews from all over the United States. Also surviving are his youngest brother Arthur of Billings; his sister in-law Betty of Roundup; and his special nephew Clifford Potts of Billings. A memorial service will be held at the Cremation and Funeral Gallery, 29 8th Street West, Billings, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17. Inurnment will follow at Bridger Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cremation & Funeral Gallery.
