Description	:	William Dibb, a native of Swine, Yorkshire, England, actually settled just north of Lacolle in the seigniory of Delery. The family has been included among the group because of their proximity to Lacolle, their ethnic connection and the 1831 marriage of William's daughter, Margaret Dibb, to Francis Cookman. Early letters from Yorkshire suggest associations with the Cockerline, Cookman and Jackson families. While many of William Dibb's French neighbors in Delery were implicated in the Papineau Rebellion, he, as expected, remained loyal and marched to the battle of Odelltown with the Sherrington militia.
