The cause of death was old age, as he was over eighty years old. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. John Wynn, of Marysville; and Miss Mary Digman, who kept house for him. The funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's church near Lillis at nine o'clock Thursday morning. ------ Born in Ireland (County Cork according to the family story), he married Bridget Hogan in 1865 and emigrated to the United States the same year. Whether they were married in Ireland or the US is not known. By 1870 they were living in St. Louis, Missouri, where they had several children; five died and three girls survived. Between 1877 and 1879 the family relocated to a farm in Lillis, Marshall County, Kansas. One last daughter was born there. Although he became a farmer, he was a stonemason by trade and a small bridge in Lillis he helped build still survives.
