William Duncan Arnett William Duncan Arnett, son of Jacob and Mary Arnett, was born July 13, 1872 near Woodburn, Iowa, and departed this life Dec. 25, 1943, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Lafe Benbow, near Afton, Iowa. He grew to manhood near Woodburn, and spent his entire life in Clarke and Union counties, except three years which was spent in Canada. William Duncan Arnett William Duncan Arnett, son of Jacob and Mary Arnett, was born July 13, 1872 near Woodburn, Iowa, and departed this life Dec. 25, 1943, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Lafe Benbow, near Afton, Iowa. He grew to manhood near Woodburn, and spent his entire life in Clarke and Union counties, except three years which was spent in Canada. He was the oldest of the four living children, three brothers and a sister having preceded him. His mother passed away September 20, 1921 and his father Dec. 21, 1925. Mr. Arnett united with the Methodist church at East Chapel in the year 1900 under the leadership of Rev. Tillotson. He was unmarried was a loving son and brother in the home, always willing to help others in time of need, was a friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed in the home of his sister where he had made his home for many years. Those left to mourn his passing are two sisters, Mrs. Lafe Benbow, Afton, Iowa and Mrs. Guy Patterson of Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada; one brother Walter Arnett of Osceola and three nephews, Wayne Benbow of Afton, Meryl Patterson, Alta, Canada, and Ivan Benbow of the United States Navy, and many other relatives and friends. Services were held at tho Trinity Methodist church Dec. 31, 1943. The Rev. O. J. Fix officiated. Fred Carson sang "Rock of Ages" and "In the Garden," accompanied, by Mrs. Chas. Wolcott. Pallbearers were John Patterson, Lon Benbow, Willis Patterson, Chester Benbow, Wm. Longshore, Omer Kenagy. Burial was at tho Ottawa cemetery, near his birth place, under the direction of the Charles Coon funeral home of Afton. Transcribed as published by Karen Brewer.
