Burial was in Asbury Cemetery. Obituary AGED RESIDENT DIES AT BYRDTOWN HOME William E. Byrd Passes Away Thursday Morning END COMES AFTER LIFE OF 75 YEARS William E. Byrd died suddenly at his home in the Byrdtown section of Crisfield Thursday morning. He had born in poor health for the past few weeks, but was apparently on the road to recovery, when he was seized with an attack of acute indigestion which resulted in his death. Mr. Byrd was seventy-five years of age and had lived in this community all his life. In early life he was a waterman and later engaged in the seafood business. A number of years ago he was associated with A.T. Lavalette, the pioneer in the shipping of diamond back terrapins from Crisfield. They were also extensively engaged in the shipping of soft crabs. This partnership continued until Mr. Lavalette left Crisfield when Mr. Byrd succeeded to the business which he successfully conducted for a number of years. He was a member of Asbury M.E. Church, a consistent Christian and a gentleman of the old school. He could always be counted upon to take his stand on the right side of all questions and was firm in his convictions to what he believed to be right. He was also a member of Asbury Council, No. 151, Junior Order of United American Mechanics. He is survived by his widow who before their marriage was Miss Elizabeth Tull. Funeral services will be held at Asbury M.E. Church tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at 1.30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. T.J. Sard. Interment will be in Asbury cemetery.
