Lived for a time near Cozad, Ne. 1900- Castle Rock precinct in Scotts Bluff County, Ne. ---William Claypool Answers Summons--- William Claypool, one of the earlier settlers of the valley, a successful farmer and rancher, and who always has been held in the highest esteem by every man with whom he has come in contact, quietly laid down the burdens of eighty years of a life well spent and entered into rest at his ranch home near Melbeta on last Sunday, terminating a gradual failure in health that he had experienced for the past year or more. The deceased was born in Ohio about 80 years ago, moving when a young man to Missouri and eventually locating near Cozad, Nebr., about 1870. He came to the North Platte valley in 1888, locating near Melbeta and engaging in the ranching business, the firm being known as Claypool & Wood. He has made the ranch his home since that time. He was of what is termed in these modern days "the old school", scrupulous and strictly conscientious in his every day dealings with his fellow men, exceptionally upright and bearing himself in such a manner as to command the respect and esteem of all who knew him. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. A. B. Wood, of Gering. THe funeral services are to be held this (Tuesday) afternoon at 3 o'clock from the ranch home conducted by Rev. Adkins of Gering. ###
