Born January 24, 1929 in Brookville, Indiana he was the son of the late Howard & Anna (Snapp) Jolliff. He was a United States Veteran of the Korean Conflict, having been captured as a Prisoner of War and held captive from April 26, 1950 until August 13, 1953. Read More	William E. Jolliff, age 81, of Brookville, Indiana died Saturday, May 1, 2010 at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio. Born January 24, 1929 in Brookville, Indiana he was the son of the late Howard & Anna (Snapp) Jolliff. He was a United States Veteran of the Korean Conflict, having been captured as a Prisoner of War and held captive from April 26, 1950 until August 13, 1953. On November 10, 1956 in Brookville, he was united in marriage to the former Violet Rea, and she survives. He was the retired Owner/Operator of Bill's Tire Sales & Service for over 30 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Bill was a lifetime member of the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion, a lifetime member of EXPOW Bulletin, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Graybeards, as well as the Disabled American Veterans. Besides Violet, his loving wife of over 53 years, survivors include two sisters, Mary (Ron) Riddle of Cincinnati, Ohio and Betty Wilson of Columbus, Ohio; a brother Ron (Judy) Jolliff of Metamora, Indiana, as well as many nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Jean Boone, and a brother, Floyd Jolliff. Rev. Wayne Ison & Pastor Tim Flutie will officiate the Funeral Services on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial with Full Military Honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville. Family & friends may visit from 4 till 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May, 4, 2010 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville. Memorial Contributions in Bill's Honor may be directed to the Andersonville Trust, P.O. Box 186, Andersonville, Georgia, 31711, which is a non-profit trust that supports and maintains the historic prison and National POW Museum.
