He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Martha Beacher of Miiami, Fla., and three sons, A. Tinkler of Shawnee, J.E. Tinkler of Oklahoma City and J.Tinkler of Okrage, Alaska. The body was sent to Gypsum City, Kan., for services and burial, it was announced by the Garrison funeral home. __________________________ Following provided by Find a Graver Stuart Weddle (#46882614) William volunteered for duty during the Civil War and was taken into the Union Army on June 3rd, 1862 at Palmyra, Missouri. He was a drummer and bugler. In April of 1863 he was given a medical discharge at Pilot Knob, Missouri. He re-entered military service in May of 1864. His brother Joseph had been killed-in-action the previous year. His military record, describes him as: 5 feet 5 inches tall, light complexion, hazel eyes, light hair and a farmer. He and Hannah Sherk were married on April 14th, 1865 at Scales Mound, Illinois. Together they had seven children. In 1870, William and brother-in-law Richard Spencer came to Kansas settling east of the present town of Gypsum. Their wives and children later joined them. Traveling by train to Abilene.
