Read More	WILLIAM LACY INTERRED IN SARGENT CEMETERY Last week's Leader told of the death of William Lacy at 8:10 o'clock Wednesday morning, March 17, following a stroke he suffered about midnight Sunday, March 14, and stated that the funeral would be held at the M. E. church Sunday afternoon, March 21, commencing at two o'clock. At the appointed hour the seating capacity of the church was all used, and a number were standing. There were many beautiful flowers on the altar and the casket. F. W Spooner was the funeral director. As he brought the casket to the church, altar, it was followed by a very large number of close relatives of the deceased. The Rev. C. M. Estabrook had charge of the funeral services and at the usual time preached an appropriate sermon. The singing was by a mixed quartette composed of Ivan H. Shires Mrs. Grace (Wm. R.) Kidder, Mrs. Hazel (Bert) Amos and Guy E. Livermore. The music was played by Mrs. Eva (Robert G.) Brown. The songs used were, "Asleep In Jesus, " "Beautiful Isle," and "Abide With Me". The pallbearers were William R Kidder, I. L. Lysinger, Robert Gibson, Everett Tatman, Tom Lacy, and Charles Mattox. Interment was made in the Sargent cemetery. William E. Lacy was born April 7, 1871, in Warren county, Iowa, and passed into the eternal presence of God on March 17, 1937, at his home in Sargent, Nebraska, at the age of 65 years, 11 months, and 10 days. His early education was received in the schools near his birthplace. At the age of seventeen years he accompanied his parents from Iowa to Hamilton county, Nebraska, where they located on a farm, and that county was his home for the next twenty years. September 30, 1896, at Aurora, Nebraska, he was united in marriage to Miss Ruth Eastman. Following their marriage they resided on a farm in Hamilton county until the year 1908 when they came to Custer county and located on a farm nine miles west of Sargent. There he had purchased three quarter sections of land which he still owned at the time of his death. They resided on this farm until the spring of 1910. When Frank Gustafson put in the first service or filling station here that summer of 1921, the station now known as the White Eagle Service station, he employed Mr. Lacy to operate this station for him. This Mr. Lacy did until the year 1925 when he entered the implement business purchased what had been for many years Sargent's only livery barn but for several years had been used, first as a garage and then as an implement house. Here Mr. Lacy began his business as a dealer in John Deere farm machinery. After his son Shelly finished his high school course the spring of 1926, he was associated with his father in this business. They continued the business until a few months ago. discontinuing because of condition caused by the drouths of 1934 and 1936. He leaves to mourn his sudden death his wife and son Shelly, three sisters and three brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Ida Devore and Mrs. Norma Englund of Phillips, Nebraska, and Mrs. Lloyd Scott of Loup City, Nebraska. The brothers are Asa Lacy of Scotts Bluff, Nebraska Dayton Lacy of St. Paul, Nebraska, and Henry Lacy of Dannebrog, Nebraska. He also leaves one granddaughter, many other relatives, and a host of friends. Mr. Lacy united with the Methodist Enisconal church at Phillip, Nebraska, and later transferred his membership to the M. E. church Sargent, Nebraska. Mr. Lacy was a kind husband and father, a good neighbor, and a fine type of citizen. He served at least one term as a member of the Sargent School Board .
