Description	:	William Edward Bowen William Edward Bowen, son of William and Mary Bowen, was born at Pontarddulais, South Wales, on the 20th day of November, 1839. He had one brother, David, and two sisters, Ann and Sarah, all deceased. He came to the United States in 1869, and in 1870 settled at Beacon, Iowa, with his family, and resided in or near there until the time of his death. on the 2nd day of May, 1863, he was united in marriage with Mary Elizabeth Luscombe, of Neath, South Wales, in the Neath Baptist church. of the union there were born twelve children,... He came to the United States in 1869, and in 1870 settled at Beacon, Iowa, with his family, and resided in or near there until the time of his death. on the 2nd day of May, 1863, he was united in marriage with Mary Elizabeth Luscombe, of Neath, South Wales, in the Neath Baptist church. of the union there were born twelve children, of whom nine, three sons and six daughters, survive the father: Frederick and William Bowen, who live at Worden, Montana; Mrs. F. H. Stevens and Oscar Bowen, residing at Minneapolis, Minn.; and the remaining children, Mrs. Sue Laughlin, Mrs. Mima Sprague, Mrs. Warren E. Whitlach, Mrs. Harvey E. Malone, and Mrs. Edward T. Deaver, are residing in or in the vicinity of Beacon, Iowa. Mrs. Bowen preceded her husband in death having passed away May 10, 1921. Mrs. Bowen was baptized into the Salem Baptist church at Llanelly, South Wales, in October, 1855. Upon coming to Beacon, he united with the First Baptist church at Oskaloosa, and retained his membership there until the organization of the beacon Baptist church in 1892, when he united by letter with that church. He died at Beacon, Iowa, on 2nd day of April;. 1926, aged 86 years, 5 months and 12 days. he is survived by nine children, forty great-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the beacon Baptist church on Tuesday, April 6, 1926, at 2:00 p. m., the Rev. William Williams of Danville, Iowa, officiating. Interment was made in Beacon cemetery.
