Description	:	William Elmer Willis, 94, of Glendale, SC, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at his home. Born October 9, 1910, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late George Washington Willis and Marcella (Gibson) Willis and the husband of the late Mabel (Burgess) Rhinehart Willis. Retired from Arkwright Mills, Catewood Plant, he worked for many years at Glendale Mill, was a member of Glendale Baptist Church, where he taught the Mens Bible Sunday School Class for over 60 years, was a Deacon, and a former Boy Scout leader. Born October 9, 1910, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late George Washington Willis and Marcella (Gibson) Willis and the husband of the late Mabel (Burgess) Rhinehart Willis. Retired from Arkwright Mills, Catewood Plant, he worked for many years at Glendale Mill, was a member of Glendale Baptist Church, where he taught the Mens Bible Sunday School Class for over 60 years, was a Deacon, and a former Boy Scout leader. Survivors include four daughters, Mary Ann Mahafee of Cowpens, Doris M. Cox of Duncan, Kay Sis Motts of Pacolet, and Linda Smith of Glendale; two sons, John Ike Willis of Cowpens, and James E. Willis of Denver, NC; two sisters, Frances Wright of Spartanburg, and Naomi Childress of Cowpens; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by five brothers, Gary, Delbert, Paul, Frank, and Ernest Willis; a sister, Ruth Crocker; and a great-granddaughter, Claudia Jordan Rose Cox. Visitation was 7:00-9:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2005, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2005, at Glendale Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Johnny Bridges and the Rev. Eddie Willis. The body was placed in the church at 10:00 a.m. Burial was in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Glendale Baptist Church, P.O. Box 268, Glendale, SC 29346; or to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Boulevard, Suite 101, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
