William died in 1948 and Josephine died 14 years later. Here is William's obituary: William Emery Grubaugh, 63. former Butler county resident, died in a hospital in Ainsworth Saturday, Nov. 27th. He was taken ill with pneumonia October 28, and a week later was stricken with a heart attack. After showing signs of recuperation, he suffered recurring seizures of heart ailments which proved fatal. He was one of 13 children born to Mr. & Mrs. Matthew Grubaugh, who were living in a farm near David City at the time of his birth, Oct. 20, 1885. On April 5, 1910 he was married to Josephine Steager, the two establishing a home of a farm near Rising City. In 1936 they and their children moved to Ainsworth. Mrs. Grubaugh survives him, as do eight of the nine children born to them. The children include four daughters, Mrs. Mary Brandenburg, Mrs. Martha Moore, Mrs. Josephine See, and Francis of Ainsworth; and four sons, William H. of Columbus, Laurence of Sidney, Merle of Riverside, CA and Joseph of David City. Other survivors are: five brothers, Roy of Rising City, Richard and Arthur of David City, Fred of Bellwood and Ben of Ozark, MO; five sisters, Mrs. C. P. Wood and Mrs. M. B. Adams, and Cynthia of Bellwood, Mrs. Art Struebing and Mrs. Chris Struebing of Rising City; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his young daughter, Agnes, his parents and two brothers. Mr. Grubaugh was a quiet and home-loving husband and father. His uppermost thoughts were the well being of his family, his neighbors and friends. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 am at the Catholic Church in Ainsworth, with the Rev. Barry officiating. The body was then brought to David City for burial. (Buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.)
