Description	:	William Ernest (Bill) Thayer, 62, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008. He was born Sept. 16, 1945, in King City, and was the son of Lloyd and Margaret Thayer. He was a fun loving guy who made everyone laugh. Bill was a King City High School graduate, class of 1963. Military: Served in the Air Force. He joined the Air Force right out of high school and served as a radar technician during the Vietnam War, stationed at various radar sites, including Thailand, and was a member of the National Guard after retiring from active military service. After the... Read More	William Ernest (Bill) Thayer, 62, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008. He was born Sept. 16, 1945, in King City, and was the son of Lloyd and Margaret Thayer. He was a fun loving guy who made everyone laugh. Bill was a King City High School graduate, class of 1963. Military: Served in the Air Force. He joined the Air Force right out of high school and served as a radar technician during the Vietnam War, stationed at various radar sites, including Thailand, and was a member of the National Guard after retiring from active military service. After the Air Force, Bill and his family moved to Eureka, where he worked for the City of Eureka Water Department, He then moved to Redding where he worked for the Bella Vista and Redding Water Department. Retiring in 2001, and returning to Eureka where he was a member of the Faith Center Men's Bible Study. Survivors: Daughters, Christine Negaard, (Michael) of Eureka, daughter, Barbara Thayer, of Arcata, grandchildren, Michael, Anna, and Christian Negaard, brother, Chuck Thayer, and wife, Mary, of Rohnert Park, sister, Loydene Sorensen, of Fresno, and multiple nephews and nieces. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Margaret Thayer, and his former wife, LaVanda McKenzie. Memorial service: Was held in Eureka in February. Interment: 11 a.m., Friday, June 20, 2008, at Oak Park Cemetery in Greenfield, with a military honor guard.
