Read More	Havre Daily News (MT), 9 Feb 1962 William Penniwell Passes Away William Ernest Penniwell, former member of the Hill County Fair Board, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, at a local hospital. Mr. Penniwell, a retired farmer from Gildford, was 73 years old. He was born on Oct. 31, 1887, in Lovington, Ill., and married Mattie Rose Swinney on May 15, 1907, in Yates Center, Kansas. The filed on a homestead in 1910, moved west from Buffalo, Kansas, and homesteaded in 1911 three miles southeast of Gildford. The land still remains in the family. Mr. Penniwell served for several years on the Hill County Fair Board, and for several years on the Gildford School Board. He ran the Farmers Elevator for a period, and also the Gildford Grain and Trade Co., now Campbell's General Store. He was Past Noble Grand of Hingham Lodge 115, I.O.O.F. and a Past Master of Gildford Lodge 114, AF & AM, and a member of the encampment. Survivors besides his widow are daughters, Mrs. Louis Miller, Mrs. Kamp Landrith, and Mrs. Virginia Donovan, all of Gildford; a brother, Carl of Gildford; a sister, Mrs. C.W. Stanfield, Buffalo, Kan.; and five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. One son, Ernest, died in 1924. He was a member of the Methodist church. Mr. Penniwell was active in Republican activities for many years. --- Liberty County Times, Chester, MT, 22 Feb 1962 Funeral services for William E. Penniwell were conducted Tuesday at the Gildford First Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Ted Burfield, Mac Brownlee, Earl Watson, Glen Watson, Francis Kurtz, and Herbert Derbyshire. Duets were sung by Mrs. Don Swinney and Mrs. Francis Kurtz. Interment in Gildford cemetery. -- Children: Daniel Ernest, Elizabeth Irene, Laura Alice, Eleanor Mae.
