Read More	31 January 2003 (Valley Courier) WILLIAM SISEMORE HOOPER – William Everett Sisemore, 86, died Jan. 26, 2003 in Amarillo, Texas. He was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Hooper to Clark and Mora Ellen (Barnes) Sisemore. Better known as Bill, William was raised in the Hooper and Crestone area. He attended school at Hooper and worked doing farm work since the age of 16. In 1934, he started working millwork, for the LMB Milling and Mining Company on the Baca Grant Ranch, on the Cottonwood and Spanish Creek. Bill also prospected some on Pole Creek, in Denton and operated a 150-ton mill for a year. In 1938, at the age of 22 years, Bill worked for the Bonanza Company. In 1939, he went back to work for Baca Grant and worked there until 1963, when he broke his arm. The Baca Grant Company sold out to Newhaul Land and Farming. Bill and Gladys Stewart were united in marriage on June 22, 1941, in Del Norte. The couple owned and operated the Crestone Service Station and Grocery Store after Bill retired from the mill. After they retired from the store, they worked reading meters for the San Luis Valley Rural Electric. For several years in the winter months, Bill and Gladys would travel to Boise City, Okla. to be close to their daughters. In September 2000, they decided to move to Boise City and remained there. An active man, Bill loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting for deer, fishing in the mountains and prospecting in the creeks. Bill also tried golf and really enjoyed it. He had one of the largest barb wire collections and donated this to the museum. Bill and Gladys also enjoyed collecting antiques. Bill was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Boise City, Okla., a past member of the Rod and Gun Club, the Baca Grande Golf Association and a volunteer for the fire department, all of Crestone. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward Sisemore and Carl Sisemore; and two sisters, Esther Wooten and Lea Hutchinson. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Sisemore, of the home; one son, Larry Sisemore and wife Mary, Alamosa; two daughters, Beth Hathaway and husband Bob and Anne Clifton and husband David, all of Boise City, Okla.; one brother Robert Sisemore, Crestone; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Rosary was Monday, Jan. 27, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Boise City. Funeral Mass was Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the same church. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Crestone Cemetery with the Carmelites officiating. The family has suggested memorials to the Station of the Cross at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Boise City, Oklahoma, in care of the Cimarron Mortuary, Box 277, Boise City, Okla., which handled arrangements.
