Read More	The Edgar Sun (Edgar NE) Fri , Jan 10, 1936 - pg. 3 William Ficken Dies After Auto Accident William Ficken, 35, died Monday at 7:15 p.m. at the Mary Lanning hospital, where he had been taken at noon Sunday suffering with a serious skull fracture. The fatal injury occurred in an automobile accident on highway No. 4 west of Davenport. The body was taken to Mr. Ficken's home near here. He is survived by his wife, four children, a brother H. Fred, his father and other relatives. Mr. Ficken was on his way to Edgar to get a veterinarian for a sick cow. Two young **n driving a V 8 Ford were going west on the highway to Lawrence when they met the Ficken car just as he came onto the highway, four miles west of Davenport. The accident occurred about 10:20 Sunday. Mr Ficken suffered a multiple skull fracture and was rushed to the Mary Lanning hospital at Hastings. The Ficken car was badly wrecked. The Ford was slightly damaged. The impact threw Mr. Ficken from his sedan onto the gravel. Tracks showed that the wheels of the Ford had slid some 150 feet in an effort to prevent striking the Ficken automobile. =============================================== The Edgar Sun (Edgar NE) Fri, Jan 17, 1936 - pg. 1 Obituary of Wm Ficken William Ficken was born June 19, 1900, on the home farm in Hammond precinct, Nuckolls County, three miles south of Sedan. It was on this farm that he spent his entire life. In May of the following year he was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Rev E. Eckbardt, Ev. Lutheran pastor, On August 27, 1923, he was married to Winifred Anderson of Oak, Nebraska. This union the Lord blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters, all living. He was in perfect health when he started for the veterinary at Edgar. At the mile crossing north of his home he was overtaken by a speedy car and received a fatal skull fracture. He never regained consciousness. He was taken to Mary Lanning hospital at Hastings shortly before noon, Sunday January 5, and lingered until 7:46 Monday evening, January 6, 1936. He reached the age of 35 years, 6 months and 18 days. He leaves to mourn his untimely death, his loving wife, two sons, Wilfred, 7 years and Wilbert, 1 1/2 years; two daughters, Wilma, 11, and Wyona, 3 years. Also his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Ficken, of Davenport and a half brother, Fred Ficken who lived near Sedan. Three half brothers preceded him in death. He leaves a number of grieving relatives and loving friends. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev J. C. Hershey. Burial was made in the cemetery at Edgar.
