He departed this life from the home of his brother, Dr. H.D. Cate of Sidney, Nebr., at the age of 45 years, 6 months and 15 days. Cate and wife Belle, was born in Nelson, Nebraska, August 30, 1897. He departed this life from the home of his brother, Dr. H.D. Cate of Sidney, Nebr., at the age of 45 years, 6 months and 15 days. He grew to manhood in Nelson, attended the public schools and the Methodist Sunday school and church there. On August 30, 1915, he was united in marriage to Alice May Kenley of Edgar, Nebr. To this union were born three children: William Bruce, Paul Kenly, and Rosettabell. The sons preceded him in death on November 29, 1930. Mr. and Mrs. Cate moved to Superior, Nebr., in the fall of 1927 and he continued in business there until the early summer of 1941, when he was forced to lease his business and go to Sidney to be near his brother, from whom he was taking treatments for his illness. For a man of his many activities he bore his last sickness with great patience and without a word of complaint. His many acts of kindness to people in need or distress were unknown to the general public. He was a good man, a loving husband, and a devoted father. He was baptized and joined the Methodist church (sic) in Nelson in his early youth and he knew that Christ and Christ alone could save through his own precious blood. He leaves behind his faithful and loving wife, his devoted daughter, Mrs. J.D. Rairigh of Lincoln, one brother, Dr. Homer D. of Sidney, and his step-mother, Mrs. Alma Cate of Nelson, who was as close as a mother to him, besides a host of other relatives and friends. His funeral service was held from the Methodist church (sic) in Nelson on Wednesday afternoon, and he is laid to rest beside his beloved sons in the Nelson cemetery (sic). Rev. Clarence Powell, the local pastor conducted the service.
