Sigler -- William F. Sigler, a long-time resident of Clay county passed away at his home in Industry, Sunday, July 16, 1933, after a lingering illness. He was born in LaSalle Co., Illinois, September 18, 1850 and his life covered a period of 82 years and 10 months. Mr. Sigler knew well the hardship of the Kansas pioneer having been a resident of this state for forty-five years. In the year of 1876 he was united in marriage with Martha Ellen Berrier, and for fifty-seven years they have been devoted companions. Seven children were born to this union, two of whom are living to care for their mother. They are Charles, Asa, Alta May, Robert and Scott Sigler. Mr. & Mrs. Sigler lived in Clay Center for a short time during their first years in Clay county. Later they moved to a farm south of this city, but have resided at Industry for many years. Mr. Sigler united with the Evangelical church in Industry some years ago and was sincere in his efforts to live up to its teachings. He was a good man and during his long illness he greatly appreciated the kindness of his neighbors and friends. He is survived by his faithful wife, one son, Jesse, a daughter, Mrs. Milt Downs, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, at the Industry Evangelical church, and were conducted by Rev. G. C. Gilbert and his son, Rev. Gilbert. Many long time relatives and friends were present and the floral offerings were further expressions of regard. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery. The pall bearers were close friends of the Sigler family and appropriate music was furnished by the church choir. Mrs. E. C. Bomar and W. F. Berrier of Clay Center attended the services."
