Read More	The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, April 29, 1926; pg. 5 William Underwood was born at Madison, Indiana, December 20, 1845 and passed away April 16, 1926, at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 26 days, after an illness of four months. His suffering was borne with great fortitude such as comes to them who trust in a Divine Helper. He was indeed a good husband and father. Mr. Underwood was a good man and a real neighbor. He was always ready to be of help to his fellow man. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. On December 19, 1876, he was married to Rose Smith and to this union fourteen children were born. His wife and eight children survive him. Mr. Underwood located with his family in Nebraska in 1884 and for the past twenty-three years he has been in or near Cadams, Nebraska. He elaves (sic) to mourn his departure, his wife, eight children, thirty-two grand children and fourteen great grand children, one brother, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Two of the children, John Underwood of Bird City, Kansas, and Mrs. Onen Lockenour of Longmont, Colo., were not able to be present at the funeral on account of sickness. Funeral services were held in M.E. church at Cadams Sunday at 2 p.m. and were conducted by Rev. D.B. Wilcox, pastor of the Baptist church of Superior. Burial took place Monday, April 19 at Cadams. Mr. Underwood was a member of the Baptist church in Superior, being a member of the Baptist church for over thirty-five years. CARD OF THANKS. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our kind friends and neighbors who assisted us during the illness and after the death of our beloved husband and father.
