In 1876 they moved to SHELBY COUNTY. They were some of the first settlers in Cass Township. They purchaseda farm there and later gave a corner of the farm to be used as a site for a school. This school was known as "Old Pioneer" and was used for school, church, weddings,funerals and community gatherings. William Green served in Co. G,6th Iowa Infantryall through the Cival War. He marched with Billy Sherman tothe sea. He was wounded, receiving an eye injury. William and Nancy were the parents of five children: Emery C., Ida May, David Irvin, Alice J. Green Meink, Charles Wesley, and Lee William. William died in 1902and Nancy died in 1914. They are both buried in Cass Township Cemetary. Father: David W.
