Green, veteran of the Civil War fell to his death on Friday. He was born in Carlisle, Pa., Jan. 8, 1841. His father immigrated to Iowa in 1848. In 1861 he enlisted in the Co. G. 6th Iowa volunteers. He reenlisted in the same company at the close of the first three years and served until the close of the war. He was an active participate in 27 engagements. After the war he was postmaster at Chaplin, Iowa and county commissioner of three years at Sioux Co, Neb. He came to Chelan in 1895 and has been commander of the Harrison Post GAR, also one of the council of administration of the department of Washington and Alaska, with rank of colonel. He leaves a widow, three daughters and four sons; Mrs. Maude TenEyke and Mrs. Mabel Brown, the latter now residing in Alberta and Mrs. Carrie Hendrix, who resides in Missouri and Arthur, Edward, John and Roy Green, to mourn their sudden and severe loss.
