Kohl Dies Suddenly The death of William F. Kohl of Lincoln Township, accured suddenly at the Harlan Hospital Saturday, following an illness of less than 36 hours duration. Death was caused by an attack of influenza which effected his heart. Mr. Kohl and daughter spent Thursday evening at the home of relatives and while there he complained of feeling ill and suggested they return home. The following day his condition became serious and at the advise of the attending physician, was removed to the Harlan hospital. Shortly before his death, the nurse in charge went to his room and found he was resting well and he informed her he felt better. Returning to his room shortly after, the nurse found him dead. The body was removed to the French funeral home where it remained until the funeral. Services were conducted from the Immanuel Lutheran church, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial was in the city cemetery. William F. Kohl was born in Cedar county, Ia., February 10, 1880 and died, February 25, 1928 at the age of 45 years and 15 days. He came with his parents to Shelby County a few months after he was born in the spring of 1880 which has since been his home. On December 15, 1908, he was married to Anna Poschwatta. One daughter, Anna, was born to this union. Only four years could they enjoy their home life, the wife and mother having passed away, October 10, 1912, leaving her husband and five months old daughter, Anna. The deceased was baptized as a child in Lincoln School No. 4, by Rev. Yager of the Evangelical church. A few years ago, Mr. Kohl and daughter joined the Lutheran church. He leaves to mourn his sudden passing, his daughter, Anna, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Kohl, two sisters, Mrs. Eva Masterbrook of Oregon and Josie who has been taking charge of the household duties for the past fifteen years, two brothers, Morris and Atman.
