Born in Ickford, Buckinhamshire, England Husband of Sarah (Beazley) Neal Father to William Franklin, James A., Elizabeth, Rosa, John R., Sarah, & Harry E. Neal. He married Sarah Beazley on May 22, 1846. In the spring of 1854, they left England for America, setting sail in a vessel 6 weeks, less 2 days, to made its way across the ocean to New York City. The voyage at that time was made in a Sailing Vessel. They first located at Cleveland Ohio, but in the fall of the year of their coming to America , they moved to Cascade in Dubuque County, Iowa, and at that time the terminus of the railroad into the great West was at Galena, Illinois. The remainder of the journey was made by stagecoach. They remained in Dubuque County until 1891 when they came to Ida County locating in Blaine Township where they made their home until the death of the wife since when the deceased has made his home with his children. The wife died March 29, 1900. Funeral Services were at the Church of God, Ida Grove, Iowa, by Rev. Hamlin.
