West, 31, popular employe of the Cotton Belt Railway company, who died Monday afternoon at 1:15 o’clock at the Davis hospital where he had been seriously ill for the past month, will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o’clock from the Sulphur Springs Methodist church. Services will be in charge of the Rev. E. W. West and the Rev. M. E. Scott. Burial will be on the family lot in Graceland cemetery in charge of Ralph Robinson and Son mortuary. Active pallbearers will be: Virgil Taylor, Jack Watson, Thomas Watson, Fay Kelley, Laclede Ferguson, Lanon Raymick and Dan McGann. Honorary pallbearers will be: Alfred Helvey, John Raymick, Roy Fikes, Claude Willis, E. O. Lowman, I. V, Green, Earnest Crossett, Homer Koonce, Lon Hamilton, Harry Hani, Dr. W. H. Simmons, Ben Watson, Gus Petty, Dick Crawford, Leon Moran, Ralph Fikes, Joe Bailey, Claude Smith, Silas Tidwell, Gordon Chavis, Fred Divine, Ed Dupree, Dave McDonald, John Noah Smith, Lewis Shultz, Hugh Taylor, Francis Harper, A. E. Shelton, Noah Holmes, Lloyd McDaniel and John Edward Wilson. A native of Arkansas, Mr. West was born on February 21, 1915, son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. West, near Sulphur Springs, where he was reared and received his education. When a young man, he entered the partnership firm of W. A. West and Sons Lumber Company and continued in this connection until 1942 when he became connected with the Car Department of the Cotton Belt Railway company. Mr. West became ill while at work on September 27 and was confined to his home two days prior to being removed to the hospital to undergo treatment. He was a member of the Sulphur Springs Methodist church, where he was a member of the Board of Stewards and also served as secretary and treasurer of the church. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen. In addition to his widow, the former Miss Vera McKenzie, to whom he was married on July 17, 1933, survivors include two sons, Billy Frank West and Lloyd Glenn West, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. West, one brother Woodrow West, a sister, Mrs. Margaret Moran, two nieces Celia Ann Moran and Eva Catherine West all of Sulphur Springs and other relatives.
