Description	:	William “Babe” Sly, 67, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away Friday, May 29, 2015 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. William Gale Sly, “Babe” was born on March 9, 1948 to Duane F. and Cleaota (Priebe) Sly in Chamberlain, SD. Bill grew up in Brule County, attending rural schools and Pukwana School, where he started high school, graduating from Chamberlain High School in 1967 after Pukwana closed in 1964. Read More	William “Babe” Sly, 67, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away Friday, May 29, 2015 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. William Gale Sly, “Babe” was born on March 9, 1948 to Duane F. and Cleaota (Priebe) Sly in Chamberlain, SD. Bill grew up in Brule County, attending rural schools and Pukwana School, where he started high school, graduating from Chamberlain High School in 1967 after Pukwana closed in 1964. He went on to attend the Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa, Ok and Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls, SD. He suffered a broken back among other injuries, resulting from the crash of a small aircraft near Pukwana in August of 1965. It took months of hard work to heal up and walk again. When he finished school, he helped in the family business as part of the ground crew for Sly’s Aerial Spraying. He also worked in road construction in South Dakota and Montana and drove blade on SD county and township roads. He lived in Pukwana and took a job as policeman for the town. He attended Police Certification Training in Pierre and qualified. He was employed in Pukwana and then for the city of Springfield for 20 years. When he left Springfield, he took part time jobs in the towns of Platte, Irene and Viborg. He looked forward to these jobs and visiting with the people he met there. Bill is survived by a brother, Duane D. Sly and wife, Linda of Platte, SD; Duane’s son - nephew, Matt Sly and wife, Jackie of Crooks, SD, who were there for him when he had to move to Sioux Falls to be near medical assistance, their little ones: Myah, Will and Emma brought smiles; Duane’s daughter - niece, Kate Miller and husband, Dave and their children, Abbie and Nick of Jefferson, SD. A sister, Judith Wynia and husband, Bruce of Platte, SD; Judy’s sons - nephews, Merlyn Pickner of Pukwana and his sons, Justin and Logan; Dell Pickner of Pukwana and his daughter, Ashley and her son, Jordon; and Ron Fisher of Chamberlain, SD; Judy’s daughter - niece, Cindy Feltman and husband, Dan of Chamberlain, SD and their daughters, Pam Koch and Lacee Blankenbeckler. Cathy and Lonnie Wolcott’s children - nephew, Scot Wolcott and wife, Stephanie and their sons, Cade and Quinn of Louisville, NE and Ryan of Madison, SD; and niece, Addie Borah and husband, Jeff and their son, Axel of Brookings, SD. Preceding Bill in death were: his Dad in 1983 and Mom in 2008; a sister, Cathy Wolcott in 1996; an infant brother, Jerry; fraternal grandparents, Gale & Alma Sly and maternal grandparents, William and Minnie Priebe.
