Church, Ross County, Ohio, Dryrun Circuit, who preceded him to that better land, September 28, 1903. After their marriage they settled on a farm near her father's home, 8 miles north of Chillicothe; remained there until 1846 when they moved to Union County, Ohio, and in 1847 removed to Fayette County , and in 1848 moved back to Ross County. In the fall of 1853 they emigrated to Woodford County, Illinois, and located on a farm three miles from Metamoria, County seat of Woodford County, and remained there until 1857 when they removed to Eureka, Illinois, same county, and opened up a grocery business. During these years they accumulated considerable property. In the spring of 1853 they traded their Eureka property for land in Wayne County, Iowa and removed to Wayne County and settled on this land, in Howard Township, eight miles south of Corydon, remained there until 1872 when they came to Corydon and made it their home until the Master called them to their reward in Heaven. Mr. and Mrs. Graham lived a married life for 63 years; raised a family of five children—three boys and two girls—all of whom are living: Lorenzo D. resides at Corydon, Iowa; Charles A. at Creston, Iowa; Mrs. Mary B. Sherritt at Allerton, Iowa; Marquis DeL. at Monroe, Mo.; Mrs. Annie J. Freeland at Corydon. Father Graham joined the M.E. Church when quite young, was a faithful, consistent Christian, and in early days was a great worker in the church, and always gave liberally of his earthly means in support of the church, and when able always a faithful attendant. He never was contented only when at work,and very active, had great vitality and endured many hardships and sacrificed much for the comfort for wife and children; kind husband and father. He sustained a broken limb in December 1902 from accident, from which he never fully recovered, and for the last few months of his life was confined to his room. His last hours before he became unconscious were song and praise to his God, and he passed away as in silent sleep. All the children were present when the end came except C. A. Graham, who was in California. Two grandchildren attended the funeral, Frank Sherritt and Jennie Graham. The funeral was from the First M. E. Church, Corydon, Iowa, ably conducted by his pastor, Rev. H. P. Dudley, on Sunday at 2 o'clock p.m., February 17th. Text 14 John, 2nd verse. A large gathering of old neighbors and citizens who feel deeply this sad bereavement. The body was laid to rest in the Corydon Cemetery by the side of his departed wife.
