Description	:	William Green died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Snyder, May 4, 1903, aged 90 years, 3 months and 3 days. Deceased was born near London, England, February 1, 1813. In 1830 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Dytum. Shortly afterwards he and is wife came to America and settled near Utica, New York, where they lived until 1856, when they moved to Oregon, Illinois, where they resided until 1874, when they with their family came to Kansas and settled on Rock Creek north of Sabetha. Mr. Green was... Read More	William Green died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Snyder, May 4, 1903, aged 90 years, 3 months and 3 days. Deceased was born near London, England, February 1, 1813. In 1830 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Dytum. Shortly afterwards he and is wife came to America and settled near Utica, New York, where they lived until 1856, when they moved to Oregon, Illinois, where they resided until 1874, when they with their family came to Kansas and settled on Rock Creek north of Sabetha. Mr. Green was a stone mason by trade and will be remembered by many of the old settlers as having laid the foundation of many buildings in and around Sabetha. When very young he embraced the Christian religion and united with the M. E. church and as long as his health permitted he was an active and helpful member, often serving as Sunday School Superintendent and class leader and ever contributing liberally of his means for the support of the church and in his declining years when too feeble to attend services he rejoiced in and was comforted by the Christian's hope. In 1883 his companion departed this life and since that time he has lived with his children. Last fall he came to live with Mrs. Snyder, where he has been tenderly cared for, receiving every comfort that a loving heart and willing hands could bestow. Out of a family of sixteen children only three survive him--Mrs. Wm. Snyder, Mrs. Geo. Tresler and David Green. They have the sympathy of many friends but may they derive comfort from the thought that he spent many years of usefulness and lived to a ripe old age and now enjoys the reward laid up for the faithful. ---The Sabetha Republican-Herald, Thur., May 14, 1903
