Description	:	Waverly Independent, Thursday Dec. 15, 1910: William Green was born at Adnam, Cambridgeshire, England, Feb. 21, 1831, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lumberg, Dec. 7, 1910, at Horton. He came to America at the age of 16, settling in Illinois, where he was married to Martha Kisby. To this union were born three children: Charley Green and Nellie Nye of Chicago, and Mary Swope of Los Angeles, Calif. He came to America at the age of 16, settling in Illinois, where he was married to Martha Kisby. To this union were born three children: Charley Green and Nellie Nye of Chicago, and Mary Swope of Los Angeles, Calif. Two of these children, Charley and Mary, are still living, but were not able to be here. Sept. 24, 1862, he was married to Martha Thompson. To this union were born nine children, eight of whom still survive: Mrs. Sarah Christman, Will Green, Geo. Green, Lucy Pitcher, Mattie Lumberg, Frank Green, Daisy Oberdiear, Jim Green. All of these, except Will, were present. Deceased also leaves one sister, Mrs. Molly James, and twenty-two grandchildren, the mother having departed March 22, 1893. Mr. Green was a stone mason and many are the people of this vicinity who remember some will that "Uncle Bill" laid. He was an unusally strong, healthy man, always capable of caring for himself until the last year, when his health began to fail, and since then he has been cared for by his children. Altho he lived to the age of 79 years and has suffered much within the last few months, it was hard to give him up.
