Holland, highly respected former resident of Crisfield, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dolly Waller, in Delmar, Tuesday afternoon of a heart attack. He was celebrating his 90th birthday when he was stricken and passed away in a short time. For the past nine years he had been making his home with his daughter. Mr. Holland was born in Crisfield in 1859, the son of the late John and Julia Frances Lankford Holland and spent all but the latter years of his life here. Until about 18 years ago he was in the U.S. Light House service and was keeper of the Tangier light for many years. He was a kindly gentleman, with courtesy and respect for everyone, and he in turn enjoyed the genuine esteem of those who knew him. His life was spent, for the most part, on or over the water, which he loved. As a citizen he was interested in good government and gave his aid in this direction, he had had a long, active and interesting life, had made many friends, was a loving husband and father and a fine citizen. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 3.15 in the Bradshaw Funeral Parlors, conducted by Rev. Melvin E. Wheatley. Interment was in the family lot in Crisfield cemetery. Surviving him are a son, Fred Holland of Cape Charles, Va., one daughter, Mrs. Dollie Waller, of Delmar, and a sister, Mrs. Cary Blades of Mariners Road, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
