Description	:	William Henry Malvin, son of Samuel and Sarah Malvin, both deceased, was born in the Dickson Settlement, Delaware County in 1849, and was one of a family of twelve children, seven of whom survive him. Those still living are Mrs. Jane Cloud of Earlville, Mrs. Elizabeth Carpenter of Farley, Edward T. Malvin of Salem, Oregon; Marion C. Malvin of Rhodes, Iowa; and Samuel S., Charles D., and Sarah Belle who still reside on the old farm near Colesburg, which was also William's home and the scene of his death. Malvin of Rhodes, Iowa; and Samuel S., Charles D., and Sarah Belle who still reside on the old farm near Colesburg, which was also William's home and the scene of his death. Those who have preceded him in to the great beyond are Phillip S. Malvin, Dyersville, Mrs. Anna M Skinner of Port Jervis, Orange County, New York; David and Joseph C. Malvin, both of Colesburg. William received his preparatory education in the common schools of this county, after which he spent two years at Grinnell, by which he was fitted for the affairs of life. His whole life was spent upon the farm where, though he was long afflicted with a chronic disease, he was always found at his post of duty, and earnest, patient toiler, always patient and uncomplaining. The position which his father had held with relation to his family was taken up by William after his fathers' death, and through the remaining years of he his life he has nobly filled his father's place, giving effective aid and loving counsel to his brothers and sisters around him. For over thirty years he has been associated with the Congregational Church of Colesburg, of which he was a loyal and consistent member. His quiet and unassuming life was free from strife, peace among his neighbors and friends being his constant aim. As his life was full of peace, so also was his death. The light of life went out without a struggle, his last days on earth were marked by complete resignation to the fate when he felt was coming, but which no one expected so soon. The funeral services were held in the congregational Church , and interment took place in the Brown Cemetery. Manchester Democrat, Manchester Iowa, January 4, 1905
