Description	:	Wm. H. Morris was born in Knox county, Illinois, January 8, 1834. He removed from there to Henderson county in company with his parents when four years old where they remained about ten years when they went to Rock Island county. On November 5, 1856 he was married to Miss Harriet E. Layton, at Oakland, Iowa. To them were born six children, four boys and two girls, only two of whom are still living. Morris was born in Knox county, Illinois, January 8, 1834. On November 5, 1856 he was married to Miss Harriet E. Layton, at Oakland, Iowa. To them were born six children, four boys and two girls, only two of whom are still living. Commodore, of Arvada, Col., and Fremont, of Albion. His wife died May 27th, 1873. On January 30, 1875, he married Miss Mary E. Kinzer, and to them were born seven children, five girls and two boys. Three of these are still living, Mrs. W. J. Wheeler, Albion; Mrs. R. S. Jenkinson, of Grace City, N. D.; Mrs. N. S. Stalker, of St. Edward, Nebr. Mr. Morris came to Boone county July 3, 1881, and settled five miles northwest of Albion, where he lived until about twelve years ago. His second wife died Nov. 20, 1907. Three years later, on October 20, 1910, he married Miss Reba A. Robins, at Gladstone, Ill. His home was in the northwest part of the city until about two years ago when he moved to the present residence on Fourth Street, largely with the desire to get nearer his church home where he could enjoy the better church privileges in his declining years. He united with the Baptist church in Iowa in early life, and has always been an active member of that church, connecting himself with the Albion church when he first came to this state. He was a regular and systematic giver to both church and benevolent funds, and the first money to leave his hands after the yearly income had reached him, was the portion that he regarded as belonging to the Lord. If the income proved to be larger than he had anticipated, a further portion was put into the Lord’s work. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church at 10 a.m. Monday, conducted by his pastor, Rev. F. C. Barrett, assisted by D. J. Poynter, who had known him and the family for many years. The body was laid to rest in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery. The son, Fremont, and three daughters were present during the closing hours of his earthly life and in attendance at the funeral, and a nephew, Lewis Morris, of Joy, Ills., was also present at the funeral. Commodore was not able to get here. Thus passed away another pioneer both in the civil and religious life of Boone county, leaving the memory of his deeds with his friends and neighbors.
