Description	:	Wm Ray Answers Last Roll Call After a brief illness of only ten days, Wm Ray answered the last roll call and was at rest at 2 o'clock Saturday pm. The deceased was born in Longford, Ireland, Sept. 28, 1831. He was christened and confirmed in the Episcopal church in his early youth. He came to this country an orphan at the age of thirteen years. Read More	Wm Ray Answers Last Roll Call After a brief illness of only ten days, Wm Ray answered the last roll call and was at rest at 2 o'clock Saturday pm. The deceased was born in Longford, Ireland, Sept. 28, 1831. He was christened and confirmed in the Episcopal church in his early youth. He came to this country an orphan at the age of thirteen years. He learned the woolen business of which he became an expert and saved sufficient money to attend a school for boys at Poultner, Conn., from which he graduated. At the beginning of the Civil war he enlisted in the country's service at Washington, Ind., and served as 1st Lieutenant in the three months service, after which he was a recruiting officer for nine months. He again enlisted and served until the close of the war, in the 80th regiment of Ind. Inf. On July the 3rd 1866, he was united in marriage with Jennie Mitchell of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs J A Smith and Mrs E F Talbert. The family came to Nebraska in 1873 where they have continuously lived since. He is survived by a wife, two daughters, three grandsons and an aged sister, Mrs Margaret Green of Escanaba, Mich. Rev Taylor, rector of the Episcopal church of Central City, assisted by Rev Schell at the United Church of Marquette, officiated. Rev Harper of the Presbyterian church of Aurora sang a beautiful solo which was very comforting to the mourning relatives. The deceased always said he wished to be laid to rest under the flag he loved so well. The veterans of the G A R Post of Central City evinced their regard for their departed comrade by being present to assist the veterans of the Marquette Post in the burial service.
