Sterling, known throughout the community as "Will Wink" Sterling, died suddenly on Sunday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Andrews, in Silver Spring, Md. He had gone to his daughter's home on Saturday, en route to a convention of the Church of God being held in Columbus, Ohio, which he was to attend, as a delegate. His daughter had carried him to the railroad station and he had purchased his ticket. Then he complained of feeling ill, and asked his daughter to take him back to her home, as he would wait until Monday to start to Columbus. On the way home his daughter noticed he had slumped back in the seat, but thought he had fallen asleep. When they arrived at her home it was found that Mr. Sterling was dead. Mr. Sterling was 66 years of age, and was one of the best known carpenters and mechanics in the lower part of the county. For some years he had owned and operated a garage on the old State road near Mariners, and for the past several years, in addition to operating the garage, he had been busily engaged in carpenter and joining work. He was a man of talent in several fields. Quiet, business-like, and dependable, his services were always in demand, and there was little time when he was not busy wither building or repairing, and taking care of the customers who came for gas, oil, and other services at his plant. A fine type of citizen in every respect, honest and industrious, because of his courtesy and unfailing good nature, he had endeared himself to friends and patrons, all of whom were shocked when news of his death was received and who sincerely mourn his passing. His body was brought to Crisfield by the Lawson & Hubbard Funeral Home and reposed at his home until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, when it was taken to the Church of God where services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. C. H. Shaw, assisted by Dr. Robert H. Wilson, pastor of Mariners Methodist church. Pallbearers were Grant Morris, George Morris, Ralph Morris, Lloyd Mason, Samuel Ward and Walter Smith. Attending his funeral was one of the largest gatherings ion the history of the Church, and many an beautiful were the floral pieces sent by relatives and friends who mourn for him. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Estella Mae Sterling, nee Marshall, and six children, Clement Sterling, William Sterling, Louis Sterling, George Sterling, Mrs. William Andrews and Mrs. Lucille Huddleston.
