Description	:	Death of William Hanke. William Hanke, a well-known and well-to-do farmer of Railroad township, died very suddenly Friday noon from an attack of heart trouble at the age of 61 years, 7 months and 12 days. He had been ailing only a few days and his death came as a great shock to his family and his friends throughout the county. Read More	Death of William Hanke. William Hanke, a well-known and well-to-do farmer of Railroad township, died very suddenly Friday noon from an attack of heart trouble at the age of 61 years, 7 months and 12 days. He had been ailing only a few days and his death came as a great shock to his family and his friends throughout the county. Mr. Hanke was one of the pioneer residents of Railroad township and by his rigid example of industry, frugality and honesty contributed much toward the advancement improvement of the west end of the county. He served the county on the councilmanic board for a number of years and was a member of this important official family at the time of his demise. He is survived by the wife, eleven children, two brothers, Gottlieb and Fred Hanke, and many other relatives and friends. The funeral was conducted from the German church in San Pierre Sunday afternoon and interment was made in the San Pierre cemetery. Hundreds of people turned out for the funeral in spite of the inclement weather. Published in the Starke County Democrat (Knox, IN), on Wednesday, July 26, 1911.
