William Harrison Baker, 89, a prominent farmer and stockman of the Hiattville community for 64 years, died at the home of a son, Charlie Baker near Hepler, last evening at 5:30 after being seriously ill about a month. He was almost 90 years old and the last of his family. He was born in Logansport, Indiana, November 29, 1853 and grew to manhood there. Soon after he married Lucinda Lung April 18, 1875, they came to Kansas and settled on the present farm near Hiattville. He was active and highly respected in the community for over half a century. His wife is deceased. The following children survive: Leonard of Dixon, Calif; Charlie of Hepler; Mrs. George Davis of Hiattville; Henry and Arbie of Fort Scott; Oliver of Reserve, Kansas; Mrs. R. J. Talbot of Falls City, Neb; John of Colorado Springs; George of Kawkawlin, Mich. There are also 44 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Mr. Baker was a member of the Lutheran church at Hepler. Interment will be in the family lot at the Hiattville cemetery. The body will be at the Konantz mortuary until time for the funeral which will be announced later awaiting the arrival of the sons and daughters.
