Blitch, one of the oldest residents of Clay County died at his home in Green Cove Springs Saturday evening. Mr. Blitch has been an invalid for some time past, in fact, ever since his wife passed away nearly a year ago. He was seventy nine years of age and until recently his life had been a very active one. He had served several terms on the board of County Commissioners of the county and was admired and loved for his sterling honesty and unimpeachable integrity. He and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary about seven years ago. Mr. Blitch is survived by six sons and two daughters, F. L. Blitch, of Jacksonville; W. I. Blitch, of Perry; O. T. Blitch, of Orange Park; R. E. and Roy H. Blitch of Quincy; and Mrs. Forest Geer ofmJacksonville; and Mrs. Pearl Brooker of Green Cove Springs; a sister, Mrs. Dan Knight, of Lake Butler; 18 grand children and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday morning in the Methodist Church in Middleburg, Rev. L. T. Ivey, officiating. Interment was in the Middleburg cemetery in the family plot. Honorary pall bearers were E. M. Wilson, W. L. Hendricks, Peter Rice, P. J. Canova, W. O. Geiger and R. L. Townsend. Active pallbearers were E. V. Priest, D. G. Dyson, J. Slater Smith and Richard Rivers.
