"Bill" Cook, 87, Oroville, died Saturday, May 14, 1994, in the Valley Care Center in Okanogan. He was born Dec. 1, 1906, at Pine Creek to George and Minnie Cook. He grew up on the family farm and attended Oakes School. He worked on a threshing crew as a young man in the northern part of Okanogan County. He married Mabel Bear on July 3, 1930, in Okanogan. They moved to Omak, where he worked for the Omak Evaporating Co. and Biles Coleman Lumber Co. The family moved to Tonasket in 1942 and later to Oroville, where he worked in the apple industry until 1947. He worked for the Zosel Lumber Co. as a planer operator until his retirement in 1973. Mr. Cook was instrumental in the organization of the Oldtime Fiddlers of District No. 13. He was a member of the Oroville Independent of Odd Fellows and Oroville Senior Citizens. He moved to the Valley Care Center in 1993. Survivors include his wife, at the home; two sons, Leslie Cook, Salem, Ore., and Richard Cook, Tonasket; one daughter, Lela Osborne, Sandpoint, Idaho; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Arrangements are by Bergh Funeral Service, Oroville. WILLIAM H. "BILL" COOK – Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 1994, 11:00 a.m. at the Oroville Riverview Cemetery. Oroville I.O.O.F. Lodge officiating. Memorials may be made to the Oroville Senior Citizens or charity of choice. Visitation for friends will be on Tuesday, May 17, 1994 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Bergh Chapel in Oroville. Bergh Funeral Service of Oroville is charge of arrangements.
