Ewer, a veteran of the Civil war passed away at his home in this city early Sunday morning, after an illness dating back for several months. Mr. Ewer was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, May 23, 1844. He was a member of the 24th Wis. Vol. and served during the civil war. After the war he came to Nebraska and located on a piece of Railroad land on which now stands the Reed school house in Boone county. He was a member of the G. A. R. post. Deceased leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters. They are, Albert of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. A. C. Ziegler of Albion, Mrs. J. C. Crawford of Petersburg and Henry of Cedar Rapids. He also leaves a son and daughter by a former marriage. Mr. Ewer as we knew him was a faithful and good citizen. Funeral services were held at the St. Anthony's church Tuesday morning at nine o'clock and the remains laid at rest in the Catholic cemetry. _____ CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our sincere thanks to our friends and neighbors the Legion, G.A.R. and Relief Corps who so loyally assisted us during the illness and death of our beloved husband and father.
