Refusal of Woman to Accompany Him Back to Detroit Alleged Cause--Kills Self Before Eyes of Travelers. ---William Goldup, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Goldup of Homer, 31 years of age, killed himself in the depot at Mosherville station Friday evening, by blowing out his brains with a revolver, the muzzle of which he placed against his temple and fired, in the presence of a dozen people gathered at the station to take the Lake Shore train for Jackson. The bullet passed thru his head coming out behind the right ear, carrying with it the man's brains, which were scattered over the place. ---Goldup, who works in Detroit, had been in Mosherville to see Mrs. Lillian Drake, who, it is said had accompanied him to Detroit on other occasions, but refused to do so this time. It is reported that he was under the influence of liquor and became sullen when the woman turned him down, going straight to the depot where he ended his life. The tragedy occurred about 8:15. ---Undertaker Phair of Homer and the parents of Goldup arrived late Friday night and the remains were taken back to Homer, where the funeral was held Sunday. Deceased was a brother of Chas.
